Special Practice Notes

Telephoning your doctor

Although most problems are best dealt with in consultation, a doctor will always be available during normal surgery hours for emergency advice. Our staff are experienced in helping you decide whether the matter requires appointment, a return phone call from the practice or urgent advice.

Precision Physiotherapy

Here at Brentwood Village Medical Centre we work in conjunction with Precision Physiotherapy, which treats a range of spinal problems, sport & work related injuries, as well as conducting personal injury insurance claims.

Specialists Referrals

You will need to make an appointment to see your doctor for a referral to any specialist.

We cannot backdate referrals as it is illegal.

Medical Certificates

Medical Certificates can only be issued if you see the Doctor during the illness.

Certificates cannot be backdated.

Recall & Reminder System

Our practice is committed to preventative care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system, please let your doctor or reception know.

Test Results and Repeat Prescriptions

This practice would like all patients to make an appointment regarding test results. No results will be given over the phone.

Repeat prescriptions require a consultation.

Appointments

Consultation is by appointment. Urgent cases (including walk-in patients) will be seen on the day. Please notify us in advance if you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment.

Home Visits.  If you require your doctor to make a home visit, please call the surgery first thing in the morning. If we are unable to offer you a home visit you will be offered a telephone consultation. If the situation is deemed urgent, we will arrange for an ambulance to attend. If non-urgent we offer an after-hours night doctor service.

Booking a long appointment. If you want an insurance medical, review of a complex health problem, counselling for emotional difficulties, or a second opinion, please book a longer appointment. This may involve a long wait, but your problem will get the attention it deserves. Please bring relevant letters and test results from other doctors.

Please be aware that some services e.g. Medicals, are not covered by Medicare and will be billed separately.

Billing POLICY

We bulk bill pensioners, health care card holders, commonwealth seniors card holders, DVA patients, and children up to the age of 12.

Full payment is required on the day of consultation and can be made by cash, ETPOS, and credit card.

Most patients pay a gap beyond the Medicare Rebate. This can vary according to the complexity of the service or if a procedure is performed.

Please note that consultations on Saturdays are not bulk billed.
